Accountant Manager

Summary of Position

The Accounting Manager's job entails overseeing all aspects of operational financial planning and cash flow management. The position necessitates a thorough understanding of each line of business and daily interaction with executive-level staff. The role's main responsibilities include assisting with and maintaining ShipSaving's financial records. The Account Manager will report to the CEO and collaborate closely with the CEO and other senior management team members. The Analyst must be articulate, self-assured, financially savvy, and eager to learn. Effective performance in the role necessitates a thorough understanding of each business's economics as well as an assessment of the economic trade-offs that must be made in a multi-line business environment.

Job Responsibilities % of Time

  • 40% - Perform daily record-keeping functions utilizing QuickBooks, month-end close process. Generate and review Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements. Complete monthly account reconciliations. Compile executive reporting package(s). Maintain Account Receivable, Accounts Payable, Investor Debt, And Loan Schedules.
  • 20% - Build and maintain the accounting department's daily operations. Assign regular duties and projects to team members. Any loopholes or weak procedures in the internal accounting process should be identified, analyzed, and a solution devised.
  • 15% - Complete variance analysis and reporting of revenues/costs of goods sold & operating expenses and cash movements. In conjunction, perform ad hoc analyses to understand the impact of business decisions and situations as pertains to meeting goals.
  • 10% - Carry out research about the various rebate programs and gain an in-depth understanding of such programs. Collaborate with the various departments on the project with cost budgets and anything related to money.
  • 10% - Implement and document standard operating procedures and process improvements where needed. Review various documents including various legal agreements.
  • 5% - Reviewing monthly financials, as well as other tasks as assigned.

Analytical / Reporting

  • Deep experience of accounting and reporting systems such as QuickBooks
  • Strong accounting knowledge, and ability to complete Journal Entries, Account Reconciliation, Month End Close
  • Excellent data integrity, data quality acumen to pro-actively and consistently identify when data is incomplete and the ability to investigate and robustly resolve
  • Ability to understand and address complex business issues as they impact financial decision making and reporting
  • Experience using cloud-based tools (e.g. QuickBooks, FreshDesk, Slack, Asana, Googe office and etc.) with a preference for experience in developing, updating, or enhanced reporting capabilities
  • Ability to prepare and review actuals vs budget activities and understand and explain variances Maintain a set of integrated financial statements

Process Development

  • Capacity to develop or refine standardized accounting and reporting templates to address current and emerging business needs
  • Experience evolving the accounting and reporting function of an organization to keep abreast of “best in class” practices involving timeliness, quality, and clarity of reporting
  • Ability to improve processes and ensure that reports and analyses are consistently accurate and error-free is a requirement

Interpersonal: Ability to build business partnerships with leadership and external organizations and customers ability to work under tight deadlines and hold others accountable for their deliverable

  • Robust skills in MS Office Ease with highly quantitative approaches to problem-solving
